People-centred, process-driven.
People-centred, process-driven.
I am an academic-turned-consultant. Over 10 years working in academia, I have built hundreds of relationships across sectors. I found the 'magic sauce' for multi-sectoral partnerships for long-lasting impact. While, I continue supporting academics, I leverage my research expertise to support community programs in the non-profit sector - where there is so much energy and opportunity for impact.

“I would definitely work with Erin again; she has a lot of expertise to bring to the table and we are forever thankful.”
“She was amazing. We had a research question that we really needed some guidance and help with and she developed a customized plan for us and really helped us with the synthesis and analysis of our systematic review … she had great guidance for us and extra little bonus tips along the way as well … she was super professional - I would definitely work with Erin again; she has a lot of expertise to bring to the table and we are forever thankful.”

“Erin's approach extended far beyond traditional research. She actively partnered with community centres and long-term care homes, ensuring that programs were not only implemented but also sustained over time.”
“I had the pleasure of mentoring Erin and it was clear from the start that she had a natural talent for building strong, collaborative relationships. While excelling at managing multiple projects and embracing intensive learning, Erin's approach extended far beyond traditional research. She actively partnered with community centres and long-term care homes, ensuring that programs were not only implemented but also sustained over time. Erin faced challenges with a smile and a positive attitude, always willing to go above and beyond. Her ability to engage stakeholders, understand their needs, and co-create meaningful projects fostered genuine connections among participants and partners alike. Erin's dedication to relationship-building and person-centred work is a rare quality that will undoubtedly continue to drive her success in the consulting world.”

“Her initiative, efficiency, and direction took our partnerships to the next level and made this my strongest application yet.”
“This was my third time applying for a SSHRC Partnership Grant, and Erin provided the expertise and support I needed during an especially demanding time. She strengthened existing collaborations, secured six new partnerships, and refined key grant sections, knowledge translation and governance. She developed a strategic engagement plan where she worked with me to identify ideal partners, crafted partner roles, led targeted outreach and drafted partner letters that demonstrated mutually beneficial outcomes. Two days before the deadline, compliance checks required urgent changes, Erin secured 12 revised letters within 24 hours. Her initiative, efficiency, and direction took our partnerships to the next level and made this my strongest application yet.”

My area of expertise in applied health sciences and health promotion broadly. I have worked on CIHR project grants & team grants as well as SSHRC Partnership Development and Partnership grants.
My services are priced per project. It can be difficult to determine an hourly rate for projects that last 4-6 months and I don't want you to have any surprises when it comes to billing. I take care in building relationships to ensure you have the best outcomes and support.
No. While I have 10+ years experience in Canadian universities, I am no longer affiliated with any university as a faculty member so that I can support faculty members regardless of where they work. Partnerships are my full-time expertise and I use the skills I've gained to support you. It takes time and energy to build relationships.
If you're targeting a grant. I recommend at least 4 months prior to your internal deadline - even if you already have partners in mind. This allows time to co-create a project together. If you're starting with new partners, I recommend 6 months. The point is to create a meaningful and lasting partnership, not to check a box on your application.
Yes, for non-profit organizations and charities. For academics, I can support you with light editing, drafting knowledge mobilization, and governance sections, but I do not provide academic grant writing services.
I get a lot of questions about specific requests, such as program evaluations, curriculum development, etc. I recommend setting up a 30-minute discovery call to see if I am best suited to help you. You can email me at erin@erinshellington.com to set up a time.
This is a common challenge for faculty members and non-profits. My recommendation is to pool resources with colleagues, apply for small pools of funding or speak to your leadership about this need. Additionally, try The Perfect Partnership!
